Mission Overview 716th Military Police Battalion Objective: The 716th MP Battalion is tasked with establishing and maintaining security checkpoints around Saigon in preparation for the Tet holiday. Despite a ceasefire between the U.S. and Viet Cong, recent intelligence suggests the possibility of an attack, though command considers this unlikely as 90% of the rebels in the area are reportedly pacified. Support Units: To bolster security, elements of the 199th Light Infantry Brigade from Pleiku Airbase have been temporarily attached, with a focus on securing key locations, especially the U.S. Embassy. Manpower: Most ARVN and U.S. garrison forces are on leave, leaving us with limited personnel but sufficient to maintain critical security positions. FOB Ban Me Thuot and FOB Ho Ngoc Tao are on QRF standby, but both are only minimally manned. Commander's Intent: This is considered a routine operation.
